I'm a freelance journalist currently based in Belgrade. Over the years I have written for the Guardian, Politico, Foreign Policy, CNN, South China Morning Post and many others.
My main focus is currently the Russian invasion of Ukraine and its global fallout, but I enjoy writing about Serbia too. Prior to the start of the full-scale war, I was an Alfa Fellow in Moscow.

I got my start in journalism in Southeast Asia, where I was the Vietnam bureau chief for the German Press Agency (DPA) from 2016-19. Before that, I was a reporter at the Phnom Penh Post English-language daily newspaper in Cambodia from 2013-15.

Please click on the tabs at the top of the page for samples of my feature writing. I am also an experienced breaking news reporter, having spent almost four years in charge of a wire agency's national coverage.

In addition to journalism, I have also written reports on the more academic side for the Foreign Policy Research Institute about Russian foreign policy in Southeast Asia. My think tank work also includes contributions to New America's daily coronavirus newsletter at the height of the pandemic.
